Me, Age 18
This is a self-portrait. I decided to do an annual portrait of myself starting at age 18. This is to see both my change in appearance and progress in skill. (I turned 19 in the middle of this drawing, but oh well, lol.)
Technical Stuff:
It's approximately 9 x 7 in.
It took about 10 hours.
Tools:
9H, 7H, HB, B, 2B, 5B, 6B pencils
mechanical 0.7mm #2 pencil
stick, kneaded, plastic, and electric erasers
tortillions and tissues for blending
on illustration board

Artist Comments:
This was my first real attempt at drawing hair where I was very stubborn about making sure I didn't just give up. The hair didn't turn out as well as I hoped, but it did turn out better than I expected. Definitely going to need lots more practice with hair before I am satisfied with my hair-drawing ability. I actually made most of it up because it was getting too tedious. I do see a few errors here and there in this drawing, but I'm actually quite pleased with it.
This scan isn't very good. As you can see, it's very blurry on the top and buttom edges. I also had to edit out a white line from the scanner with photoshop.
